Jewellery Care

Your jewellery is precious and should be treated with care.
Jewellery should be stored in a separate pouch or acid free tissue paper to avoid rubbing against other pieces of jewellery.
Your jewellery should be removed when engaging in heavy work, bathing and swimming.
Avoid contact with chemicals such as chlorine, perfume, hair spray and hand cream.

Oria’s jewellery is designed and made to the highest quality.
To ensure your jewellery remains in beautiful condition here are a few helpful hints.

Gold
To clean your gold use a soft brush (such as a soft toothbrush) and a mild detergent in warm water.
Gently brush your piece and rinse with warm water.
Dry with a soft cloth

Silver
Over time all silver will tarnish.
To slow down this process keep in acid free tissue paper (provided with your order).
When oxidisation occurs gently rub your jewellery with half a lemon and rinse thoroughly with warm water.

Gems
Gems can be cleaned with a mild detergent and a soft brush.
Rinse and dry thoroughly.
Some gemstones are porous (e.g. turquoise, emeralds, lapis lazuli, pearls and amber).
It is advisable not to clean these stones with a detergent, wipe clean with a soft dry cloth.
Many gems are heat sensitive. Avoid leaving them in extreme conditions such as beside a radiator. Heat damage can permanently affect your gemstone.
Gemstone jewellery (as well as all other jewellery) should be removed before engaging in heavy work.
Even diamonds can be prone to chip if dealt with a heavy blow!

Pearls
Pearls are soft and fragile and can scratch easily.
Store your pearls separately in a padded pouch or wrapped in a soft cloth.
We advice frequently worn strung pearls should be cleaned and restrung annually.
